BUILDING YOUR OWN HOME RECORDING STUDIO…IS IT A GOOD IDEA?
Los Angeles has long been home to the music industry and independent artists and musicians.
The pandemic forced professional recording studios to close their doors, and many musicians
decided this was a good time to try out doing their own recordings at home.
Also in the years since the pandemic, podcasts have exploded…another great reason to have
your own home recording studio, if you are, or aspire to be, a podcaster!
How could having your own home recording studio be a great idea?
Creative freedom: Professional studios are expensive and less flexible. You cannot necessarily
be creatively spontaneous and innovative when you are under a time and money constraint.
Having your own studio allows you to experiment and work on your own schedule, without
limitations. Because it’s your own studio, that you built, you will feel more comfortable, which
in turn will enhance your creativity. You will have the space to experiment, try multiple ideas,
be freer with your artistry.
Ultimately, more affordable: Of course, there is the initial outflow of funds to pay for the
construction and accumulate all the gear and equipment you will need. However, over time,
you will save money, not having to hire expensive professionals. Having your own studio also
offers you the chance to learn about production, recording techniques, engineering, mixing etc.
You can earn extra income by becoming a professional yourself and offer your services to
others…producing other artists’ music, mixing, mastering, doing remixes, renting out your
studio to another artist.
We here at RWT Design and Construction have been in business since 1989, and we have lots of
experience building quality recording studios. Our joy is to help you bring your dream into a
reality!
